Final Graphic Collage
This collage represents some of the fashion trends that are upcoming for 2020’s Spring and Summer seasons. I was inspired to create this collage by WGSN’s trend forecasting (linked below).
The photos I chose to use in this collage depict patterns and motifs as well as items and accessories that are already beginning to become popular and trendy in the industry and will only continue to grow in popularity. The background photo shows a pink plaid pattern, taken from a pink plaid mini skirt. While plaid has always been a fashion pattern staple, more vibrant colored plaid patterns are forecasted to be popular for the upcoming seasons. Vibrant colors in general, are going to be popular in the upcoming fashion seasons.
The stars over the pink plaid represent the forecasted motif of geometric shapes. While star patterns and motifs are already gaining popularity in the fashion industry, it will continue to grow along with more abstract geometric patterns, as mentioned on WGSN.
The straw purse photo was put into the collage to represent the straw purse trend that will be very popular in the Spring and Summer. As mentioned in WGSN, straw purses are made in many different shapes and sizes and not just the small, square size and shape shown in the collage. All sizes and shapes of straw purses are showing to become trends, especially in the summer.
The fourth photo in the collage is a cheetah print scarf in my ponytail. Cheetah print and snake print have been popular for some time now, and they will continue to stay trendy as new animal prints are also introduced such as zebra and cow print. Hair accessories such as hair scarves and headbands are also going to continue to grow in popularity as we enter the Spring and Summer seasons.
To create this collage, I used photos that I took at the local boutique I work at near Cleveland. I used photos of items from the boutique because the store is always staying up to date on the latest trends so it had exactly what I needed. I used the magic wand and lasso tools to delete the backgrounds on the photos and blend them together to create a cohesive collage of upcoming fashion trends. I also played with the opacity and hues of some photos to make them match and blend better.
In this final graphic collage post, I have added more to explain how I created this collage and where I got the photos I used from.

This blog will focus on the latest women’s fashion trends. I chose to write about this topic because I have been following popular fashion trends for years through celebrities, social media, fashion magazines and fashionable events broadcasted on television such as the annual Met Gala. I am very passionate about fashion and intrigued by the fashion industry. I love seeing where trends begin and how they travel and translate across the world.
I plan to collect original material through other Kent State fashion students and through my family’s business, a boutique near Cleveland, Ohio, where clothes are bought and sold in the store based on what is trending in the industry. For the Graphic Collage Project, my idea is to gather images of trending patterns, colors, accessories and silhouettes and put them together to make a trend board-like collage. For the Logo Project, I have an idea to create either a basic silhouette of a woman or some easily recognizable accessory, such as a high heel. I would put either one on a pink background to make the logo look feminine and fashionable.
