This audio is from two separate interviews with two different people. Person number one is a fashion school student and is fairly knowledgeable about fashion and fashion trends and follows them in her own wardrobe as best as she can. Person number two is a psychology student. She is not as knowledgeable about fashion trends, and she does not go out of her way to follow the trends – she just wears what she likes and what is comfortable. I thought it would be interesting, and a valid question for this blog to ask where both people learn about fashion trends, whether they decide to follow them in their own wardrobe or not. Both of them agreed that social media has primary influence over fashion trends and that celebrities and influencers on social media are the reasons that trends come and go so quickly. I believe that the quick come and go of trends is due to the millions of people who see these celebrities posts, and by the time that they have the pieces to match, the celebrity has already posted a new photo with a new fashion trend that everyone wants to follow. This also explains why fashion hotspots such as Los Angeles, where many celebrities live, is typically about six months ahead of a fashion trend than the rest of the United States. When asked about what the upcoming trends are, person number one had an answer and was very confident in saying that animal print and abstract shapes as motifs would be trending over the summer, as well as bright, vibrant colors. She says she knows this because of the collections seen at Paris Fashion Week. Person number two was not as informed and was slightly unsure of what is to be trending over the summer. However, the two had a similar response of saying that bright, vibrant, neon colors will be popular over the summer, which is also what professional fashion forecasters say as well.
